Embiid Injury Tracker

It was to nobody’s surprise that recurring injuries limited Joel Embiid to just 19 appearances last year. However, the 2025-26 campaign paints a more optimistic diagnosis.

Not only has the Sixers’ star center already played almost as many games as he did last season, Embiid’s minutes have been steadily increasing each time he takes the floor. In Philadelphia’s overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets on January 5, Embiid logged 40 minutes for the first time this season. By comparison, he was limited to roughly 20 minutes in each of his first two games.

Embiid’s health remains important to the Sixers’ chances of competing. Yet, he is being asked to do less on a roster that appears to be brimming with both veteran and young talent, including Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and rookie standout VJ Edgecombe.

Embiid’s career plus-minus sits above 2,500. In other words, the Sixers score more points, concede fewer, and win more games when Embiid is on the floor. However, his average plus-minus this season is down from previous seasons, and will require Embiid to have a monstrous rest of the season for him to catch up.
